| The Arts Society ISLE OF WIGHT - Visit to Liverpool |
The Arts Society Isle of Wight are planning a trip to Liverpool in September 2025 You are invited to join the TAS Isle of Wight in their annual holiday. Just 4 nights and 5 days. This year Lovely Liverpool. We can scoop you up in Portsmouth as we come off the ferry! For full details of the trip go to the Isle of Wight web page by clicking here. | The Arts Society SOUTHAMPTON - Whitchurch Silk Mill |
The Whitchurch Silk Mill is a working museum which preserves traditional heritage silk weaving skills, weaving on looms that date back to the 1890s. By weaving exclusive fabrics for today's luxury market, the Mill is securing the future of the methods, skills, traditions and knowledge that have existed there since 1815. Our visit will include tea / coffee and biscuits on arrival at 10:30am and a light lunch. We will have a guided tour to include the waterwheel and Mill building with its Victorian machinery. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Riches to Ribbons exhibition which showcases the stunning collection of silk ribbons woven in a creative collaboration with Jane Austen's House at Chawton. The cost of the visit will be £24.50 plus a small booking fee. This includes all refreshments, group entry plus the guided tour. Participants will need to make their own way to the Whitchurch Silk Mill. 28 Winchester Street RG28 7AL There are 3 free car parks within easy walking distance, 2 non-reservable Blue Badge spaces at the Mill and 2 more in the adjacent car park. A minimum of 20 people will be required for the trip to run. Booking opened on Tuesday, 15th April and will close on Tuesday, 27th May 2025. Sadly this visit has had to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers. However the Elizabeth Frink exhibition is on until 21st April 2024. | Visit to Kelmscott Manor, Cotswold Retreat of William Morris |
Cotswold Manor was the inspirational Cotswold retreat of William Morris, Victorian textile designer, poet, novelist and Father of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Described as a 'Heaven on Earth' by Morris, he loved the Manor House and adjoining farm buildings as a work of true craftsmanship, totally unspoilt and unaltered, and in harmony with the surrounding countryside. |

| Visit to Sculpture Park, Roche Court Educational Trust |
The New Art Centre is a sculpture park and gallery set in over sixty acres of parkland in the Wiltshire countryside. It specialises in 20th and 21st century works of art that are on view both in the park and in contemporary indoor spaces. They have long standing relationships with the artists that they show, many of which stretch back over the past six decades. Roche Court Educational Trust was founded in 2005 as a registered charity based in the park. The trust works with teachers, children, young people, adults and specialist groups, encouraging them to look, think and speak about art |

| Visit to Longford Castle, home to the Earl of Radnor |
Longford Castle, south of Salisbury, one of the most magnificent of all English houses, has been the residence of one family for almost 300 years. The Longford Castle collection, formed by successive generations of the family, is one of the finest in the United Kingdom. It includes paintings by van Dyck, Claude, Teniers and Hals, together with British pictures by Reynolds and Gainsborough, as well as oriental porcelain, Brussels tapestries, and exceptional 18th century English and continental furniture. Usually there is a 2-year waiting list for group visits to the Castle so we were fortunate to be offered the opportunity to visit. |

| Visit to Chartwell, country home of Sir Winston Churchill |
Winston and Clementine Churchill bought Chartwell in 1922; it would be their family home for the next forty years. The rooms in the house remain much as they were when he lived here, with pictures, books and personal mementoes. Chartwell's hillside gardens reflect his love of landscape and nature. |
